When food comes back up?

Regurgitation occurs when a mixture of gastric juices and sometimes undigested food rises back up the esophagus and reaches the mouth. In adults, involuntary regurgitation is a common symptom of acid reflux and GERD. It can also be a symptom of a rare condition called rumination disorder. Have you experienced food returning to your mouth after eating? But why do foods reappear after eating? Well, it happens because of regurgitation, and you experience the return of food, fluids, and stomach acids back to your mouth.

However, you may not experience this condition until you try the food or the acid in your mouth. Regurgitation differs from vomiting and does not cause stomach pain, nausea, or cramps. Reflection occurs when food that has been swallowed but has not yet been digested is regurgitated. Food returns from the stomach, passes through the esophagus and reaches the mouth.

Your child may not be able to realize that he or she is about to regurgitate. You may not be able to see or hear regurgitation, because it often doesn't look or sound like you're vomiting. Your child may chew and swallow undigested food again or spit it out. Some children may feel this and explain it as a feeling of food growing back or causing undigested food to burp.
